About these terms
gora is a mobile app for planning and sharing group trips. It is launching on iPhone first, with Android to follow. These terms cover both. gora is published by Denmark Amano Daya (ABN 24 351 667 664), a sole trader in Western Australia, Australia. "We", "us" and "our" mean Denmark Amano Daya, the publisher of gora. "You" means the person using gora.
By creating an account or using gora you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use gora.
Your consumer rights
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or the consumer law where you live. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law, the consumer law where you live, or any other law that cannot be excluded. Where these terms say otherwise, the law wins.
Who can use gora
You must be 18 or older to use gora, and you confirm this when you first sign in. You must give accurate details and follow these terms and the terms of the app store you got gora from (Apple's App Store or Google Play). If you got gora from Apple's App Store, Apple's standard licence agreement for apps also applies.
gora is not offered in the EU/EEA, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Russia, Türkiye or mainland China.
Your account
- You sign in with Apple (on iPhone) or Google. Keep that account secure. You are responsible for what happens in gora under your account.
- Tell us at support@gora.au if you think someone else is using your account.
- You can delete your account at any time, in the app or by emailing support@gora.au. See delete your account.
Goras and crews
- A "gora" is one group trip. The person who creates it is the organiser. People who join with an invite are members. Together they are the "crew".
- The organiser can edit the trip, manage the itinerary, remove members and delete the gora. Deleting a gora permanently deletes all its content, including photos, videos, chat and expenses, for every member. It cannot be undone.
- Anyone with a valid invite code or link can join until it expires or is used up. Share invites only with people you trust.
- Members can leave a gora. Content they added stays in the gora.
- You can delete your own chat messages, photos, videos and reviews at any time. The organiser can also delete any photo or video in the album.
What you share
- You own the content you add to gora, such as photos, videos, messages, reviews, receipts and plans. You are responsible for it.
- Only share content you have the right to share. Get permission before you share photos of other people or their personal details.
- You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process, adapt (for example crop it or edit it into a recap) and display your content only as needed to run gora for you and your crew, for example to show your photos in the album or build a recap. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except for copies kept for a short time in backups or where the law requires us to keep them.
- Content you share with a crew can be seen, saved and shared by its members. We cannot control what they do with it.
- Photos, videos and receipts are deleted automatically a set time after the trip ends, as shown in the app and in our privacy policy. gora is not a long-term backup. Keep your own copies.
Acceptable use
Do not use gora to:
- break the law or help anyone else break it;
- harass, threaten, stalk or harm anyone, including by misusing location sharing;
- share content that is illegal, sexually exploits anyone, promotes violence or hate, or infringes someone else's rights;
- share someone's personal information without their permission;
- send spam, malware or misleading content;
- get around plan limits, payments or security, or access data that is not yours;
- copy, scrape, reverse engineer or overload the app or its servers, except where the law allows it.
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. To report a message, photo, review or member, tap Report on it in the app, or email support@gora.au. We aim to review every report within 24 hours. We may remove the content and suspend or close the account of the person who posted it. To stop seeing someone, leave the gora; an organiser can also remove a member.
Gora Pro and purchases
- gora is free to use with limits. Gora Pro gives higher limits and extra features. The current options and prices are shown in the app and in the app store before you buy.
- Gora Pro: a subscription, billed monthly or yearly, that makes every gora you organise a Pro gora. It renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You can cancel at any time in your app store account: Apple ID subscription settings on iPhone, or Google Play subscriptions on Android. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
- All payments are made through the app store you bought from, under its terms: Apple's App Store on iPhone, or Google Play on Android. The store handles billing and refund requests. You can ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com, or Google through Google Play's refund page. This does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or the consumer law where you live.
- Gora Pro is linked to your gora account. You manage, cancel or request a refund for a purchase in the app store where you made it, even if you later use gora on a different phone.
- We may change the features, limits or prices of plans in the future. A price change will not affect a period you have already paid for. The app store will tell you before a subscription renews at a higher price.
AI features
Some features use artificial intelligence, such as the recap AI director, automatic photo tagging and Translate. AI output can be wrong, odd or not what you asked for. Check it before you rely on it or share it. Text goes to our AI provider, Anthropic's Claude, only when you tap Translate online or ask the recap AI director for a cut it cannot plan on your phone. Do not include personal or sensitive information in AI requests that you do not want processed by our providers, described in our privacy policy.
Safety and travel information
- Emergency numbers, nearest hospitals and police, weather, exchange rates, destination essentials (such as plugs, tipping and phrases), translations and place information come from our own research and from third parties. They are a convenience only. They may be incomplete, wrong or out of date.
- SOS alerts your crew only. It is not an emergency service. Call the local emergency number if you are in danger.
- In an emergency, always contact local emergency services directly. Do not rely on gora to reach help. Phone calls, maps and location need a signal and a working device.
- Location sharing and drift alerts depend on your crew's phones, settings, battery and connection. They can be late or missing. They do not replace staying in touch with your crew.
- Reminders and alarms run on your phone and depend on its settings, including battery and notification settings. Check important times, such as flights, with the provider.
- The expense split is a record-keeping tool. Exchange rates are reference rates and may differ from what your bank or card charges. It is not financial advice.
- Travel documents and your medical card are stored on your phone and in your phone's backup, if you use one. They are never uploaded to gora. Keep the originals and your own copies.
Third-party services
gora shows information from services such as Google Maps, Google Places and Apple Weather (on iPhone), and uses Apple and Google for sign-in and payments. Their terms may also apply to your use of that information. We are not responsible for third-party services, but this does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or the consumer law where you live.
Availability and changes to gora
We work to keep gora running, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance or when a provider has an outage. We may add, change or remove features. If we stop providing gora, we will give reasonable notice where we can so you can save your content.
Suspending or ending your use
- You can stop using gora at any time and ask us to delete your account.
- We may suspend or close your account, or remove content, if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if your use puts others at risk, or if the law requires it. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
Our liability
- Where the Australian Consumer Law lets us limit our liability for a failure to meet a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited, at our choice, to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again.
- To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss that is not reasonably foreseeable, or for loss caused by your content, other users, third-party services, or events outside our reasonable control.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date. If you keep using gora after a change takes effect, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, stop using gora and you can ask us to delete your account.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Western Australia. If you live elsewhere, this does not remove consumer protections that apply where you live.
